The walls of the oppressors
Thought they could build a wall around your heart
But no one can see
The garden of roses and olive trees
Underneath the drinks, the cigarettes, and the missed connections
They took your land but they cannot take your sea
In those eyes, a glimpse
Of humanity, its suffering and true love
The greatest weapon, they warned you not to touch
For it could blow up their walls, their illusions of safety
I wish you knew
How your love leaked into me
While you looked away
Afraid of what it could be
A poem for me
Is how I could immortalize
Your breath of fresh roses into me
