On the darkest night of the year

Embrace your own darkness with no fear

So you could allow the light to shine in every corner of your soul

In your heart’s dimmest alleys

In the wildest forests of your imagination

On the darkest night of the year

Embrace the night and its breeze

Stay up and read

Light a candle and breathe

Listen to sad music and weep

On the darkest night of the year

Give in to the night

Make love to the night

Sit side by side with the night

On the darkest night of the year

Confess out loud all your secrets

Ask the Gods of the night for patience

Pray to your ancestors to show you the way

On the darkest night of the year

Whisk yourself away to an ocean stroll

Go on the rooftop and serenade your soul

Have a scotch on the balcony in the cold

Shout out your dreams that have never been told

On the darkest night of the year

Remember we are made of darkness so we can see our stars.

Pre-order your copy of child of the moon my first illustrated book of poetry

about child of the moon:
in between being your mother and father
i forgot to be your daughter
and became the child of the moon
inspired by the author’s traumatic childhood experiences and set against the backdrop of the lebanese civil war, child of the moon is a powerful collection of poetry reflecting on fear, shame, despair, suicide, and the unconditional love that leads to healing.
